I have existing hard ceilings, which are plaster on expanded metal lath.
They would like shallow surface-mounted round puck lights, but would like to not have surface raceway if possible.
I am thinking MC cable from accessible area to each light, but the outlet box I am not so sure about. The structure is concrete covered steel beams.
Can I cut a circular hole and screw a round j-box into the ceiling, and still support the fixture from the j-box? Will the metal lath allow me to do that?
