Hello everybody,
I have a good question, on a renovation job if we want to relocate the fire alarm control panel and still keep the building under fire protection since we are doing renovation for only three levels but the rest of the building is occupied is there any solution for that??
Also if we need to reroute the emergency feeder for the fire pump can that be done by temping-out the emergency feeder within certain amount of time??
Thank you for your time

We've had to hire a private security company already to have a 24/7 manned "fire watch" while the changeover was done on the alarm. Never had to relocate a fire pump. Wouldn't surprise me if the solution is hiring a private pumper truck to hook up to the pipework temporarily.

In my opinion you will have to work this out with the local fire dept.

I have been involved with a few of these types of jobs and sometimes we had to have Firemen in the building as fire-watch we could not use anyone but Firefighters for this.

We did a 17 story University building and we had four firefighters on all day while we cut over from the old fire system to the new.

Also keep in mind that beyond the fire dept the building owners insurance company has a lot to say about the deactivation of both the sprinklers and fire alarm systems.

I think it is safe to say that you will not be allowed to have both systems down at the same time in an occupied building.

Fire Pump Emergency feeder

Thanks Gentelmen, do you know how long i can leave the building occupied and the fire pump feed thrugh the normal power only since the emergency feed for the fire pump will be rerouted..
