I was pricing out rental equipment in my area and was wondering if anyone marks up the price for rentals such as scissor lifts, or trenchers, and if so how much do you charge?

I divide my cost by 90% to 70% depending on the customer, size of job, workload, etc.

I also work from my home so I don't have that overhead to be concerned with.

depends on if I have to go get the equipment or it is delivered and if I can get a deal on the rental. I usually charge a minimum of 10% over my cost.

No mortgage, property taxes $700/year, phone is paid by company, water $22/month, septic system, insurance of course. I do charge for that stuff. The overhead statement was letting the OP know my markup may be a little low.

I just got a call yesterday from someone who said his brother recommended me and said I'm not cheap. I was happy to get a call after the possible customer was informed I was not cheap. :D
