In our apartment complex *3 floor Condo* built in the early 70's, the Power supply and Zinsco BMT 15-3 meter stacks (4) were installed. One stack is failing on one side. ie 110 is OK on one side, but very sporadic on the other side. These meter stacks go to 12 apartments, so We need sound advice. Should we even be looking at a refurbished stack.... we're thinking NO. So as we wait for the furnace to kick on... do we replace the 4 meter stacks and also the Power supply ? What particular product would you suggest ? Not looking for Cheap. We have that now.

We'll allow this since it is not a DIY question.

My opinion get rid of any piece of equipment with the name Zinsco (you can Google search them). If it's from the 70's it already past it's expiration date so you've gotten your moneys worth and it's time to install a new modern system.

Can you give us a direction please. Replacement brand ? Does it have close to the same footprint since ours is in a closet below the stairwell.

You'll need to find a reputable licensed electrical contractor or electrical engineer to design the new system.

You need to hire a local electrician. Only someone on site can diagnose the problem and determine the best course of action. Get three quotes if you want to make sure you're getting a fair price. You do not want refurbished equipment, you want new. A knowledgeable electrician will have their preference of brand and vendor but it doesn't matter much to you, the differences are minor.

You and your neighbors should make this a top priority. Sporadic voltage could mean something is arcing and could potentially lead to a fire. Or, once it really fails it won't come back at all.
