Does anyone do this or try to sell it to your customers? Even if they're still working? I have a bunch of GFCI's in my home, some of which are 15 or more years old, and I'm thinking about changing them out to the vastly improved modern ones.

If I happen to find a bad one ( the old ones that will still supply power even though the GFI is bad) I will explain it to the homeowner and let them decide what they want to do... Lets face it, it's a pretty easy sell....

One thing to consider is that GFI's (especially the older ones) are prone to failure after severe power surges. We have encountered many that have gone belly-up just after bad thunderstorms.

So, advise your customers to test them monthly, and after each bad storm where lightning was dancing all about. You might find that many of them have failed.

Smoke alarms should also be tested under similar circumstances.
