Question: A house walls and ceilings are opened up the knob and tube wiring is exposed
Where in the code does it say I must replace the K&t wiring?, I know there is no grounding, and the house is under wired all ready.
I have bed rooms with only one outlet in it
Again where in the code does it say I need to add more outlets on the walls which are opened up?

Whether or not you must bring the wiring up to current code due solely to the walls being opened up would be an ahj call.

The NEC does not state such a thing. However local ordinances may require it. IMO, if I am working on the home and the walls are open then I am obligated to upgrade in our area.

I agree, if the wall are open it is your responsibility to update things...local building codes will differ from region to region.
