Low cost is going to have plastic insulation, if you can deal with that they will work fine.

Good point, the ones I currently have are rubber, but I short circuited one of the tips which wrecked it.

LOL, yeah it happens.

My T5-1000 tips look pretty rough but they must be at least 10 years old and it is my daily meter.

The good ones have silicone instillation, very flexible and nice to work with.

Of course you were at a safe distance when the power was restored after you had placed the meter probes in the desired locations. Right?
