shedding and adding (but not really adding)
Whats my question:
Should this need a poco application?
I have all I need from poco to drive new heaters requested if I repurpose existing lightly used load.
Briefly I have a large warehouse that is being used [temp ] as a place where a lot of engineers sit at desks
It is cold there.
We have a very lightly used 150kVA xfmr bucking poco 208=>480 to drive [2]EV superchargers
these are presumably in the load calcs for the poco because i can run the superchargers and clamp a good 700a "easily" with all the other loads just fine
msp Buss does make a little noise tho!
so they want to repurpose the entire xfmr to drive some "temp" unit heaters
I'd probably put in a xfr switch
~130kVA
[~400a 208v at the meter]
may produce just enough heat ... it isn't a great solution, but it would be quick temp fix.
I informed poco and suggested to him that
they may want to go down the vault and see if there is any oil leaking, sweep it out and rub some lemon pledge on the bushings =)
He's talking about
"Changing from intermittent to continuous would constitute a character change. I hear your point about shedding and adding (but not really adding)"
and wants me to submit a new application
Sounds like one more hoop that will make this project just not viable.
Customer doesnt even want to mention it to poco, but I don't want to have to deal with a troubleman changing fuses and the slowdown that would mean.
I did a IR reading on the 1000a buss and it looks good so far w the intermittent
Its all lightly used on my end-
1200a disco
1000a buss with typical 200a being used in total right now
