What year (code year) did the GFCI requirements for outside receptacles at a dwelling begin?

Early 80's if my memory is correct. As an inspector I have a bunch of older code books.

Oldest book I have is the 2005 and it was there then. I really need to know the exact year though.

Yup. There's one for the AFCI as well. (but I don't have a link at the moment)

Funny thing is I had a "brain poot" and meant to ask about unfinished basements!
