Residental Feeder Calculations

The one that MD posted isn't very good since it requires you to include as part of the calculation an electric range. There are commercially available calculators that you can find on the Internet. However, you will probably have to pay for them.

It's fine for what I needed the program for...My father-In-Law had A/C installed last summer and only has 100A service, I just wanted to make sure he was good or if I had to upgrade the service...

If you want to unprotect that spreadsheet, I hacked the password years ago. It is AABBAABAABAG (all caps). That way, you can back out the electric range if you don't need it.

Thanks for the tip. The range part of the calculator made it rather worthless for this area. Almost every dwelling uses gas.

My version of that spreadsheet doesn't resemble the original code much by now. It's pretty custom at this point. It's been tweaked off and on for the last 5 years or so. My next revision will have it making a material list.

You know you really don't get much with a 100 amp service... Even a small house if you were to add A/C, Hot Tub, lots of appliances... you would WELL be over 100 amp service... Make you think twice before installing one...

Many people don't know this, but that password was actually typed during a heart defibrillation. True story.

Trevor
Look toward the bottom of the sheet. There is a box to check for a gas range.
