Does the electrical code allow to install Fluorescent lights in garage? The foam insulation is on ceiling and I am not quite sure if it requires any additional thermal protection.
Which page of NEC refers to this ???

The exposed foam insulation material would be a violation of many building codes and of the listing and labeling information for the insulation itself. There is no direct code prohibition on mounting fixtures directly against the foam, but I wouldn't do it. The foam needs to be covered with drywall or some other less combustible product.

Granted I don't think that the question asked was perhaps a "good one" but to slam somebody in saying "what kind of electrician are you" or "I?m surprised he owns a code book". Perhaps there could have been a better way to approach this one... ie: Please call a LICENSED sparky if you are having confusion on such a minor detail of electricity. Not everybody is as educated as some of us on the forum. For all you know the original poster is only say a 15 year old.

Just the way I look at things.. You don't have to agree. In my company we have very strong values on how not to degrade somebody for something they don't have a good grasp on. We educate and give suggestions. You all didn't come out of your mother?s womb knowing everything.

My question was legitimate. You could answer it by saying you were a lineman, a maintenance electrician, a commercial electrician, an industrial electrician, a residential electrician, and the list goes on. It depends on how you have specialized. An industrial electrician would not necessarily know the Code for wiring a residential garage but have the skills to wire it nevertheless.

Perhaps I misinterpreted your original reply. Lack of emotion and tone on the net limits communication to an extent. My apologies, I now understand what you meant! Everybody have a safe day.
