I have never seen it at a residence unless requested to add to a house from the owner to the utilities company. Had a friend do this as he opened a motorcyle shop on his property and a bunch of 3 phase equipment. He had to pay like $15k for the utility company to bring the service to his house. Even in a multi family residence I have never seen it. In California rarely do u see 3phase 12k lines running in neighborhoods. Usually single phase 208.
