I am wondering how you guy's transition from nonmetallic sheathed cable from inside the house to the outdoor disconnect. Romex being for dry locations only. I don't believe that it is code compliant..but I sleeve it with a piece of pvc. How do you all do it?

The inside of the disconnect is a dry location so we run the NM cable right into the back with a cable connector.

That, and, I really never thought about that tiny space between the back of the disconnect and mounting surface of the wall prior to joining this forum. :)

Duct seal around the opening where the cable comes out then squish the disconnect into place. I do the same thing with Bell boxes and wall packs fed from inside.

My local codes, Los Angeles County, does not allow what they call "poke through's" where the feeder cable comes into the rear of the disconnect. They like a standard recessed box with an exterior extension ring with a short conduit up to the box. I have also seen Sealtite used as well.

The inspector claimed wall moisture ingress is the reason. Yet the line set and LV wiring is OK just poking out of the wall????
