I was just curious about the use of a 20 amp circuit in a mud room with a sink. The room is not near the kitchen, dining room, laundry, or breakfast eating area. Although, since there is a sink will a 20 amp circuit be required? I've checked article 210 over and over but I'm sure I'm missing something. Thanks for any help.

No, you're not missing anything. It can be 15 or 20 amps, and there is no requirement for it to be 20 amps. The choice is yours.

Definitely... there will be ground fault protection. I was just curious because I originally ran 14 AWG wire and was told to rip it out to install 12 AWG. I could've swore I knew what I was doing...

Re: residential branch circuit size requirements

You are fine. 15 amp is all you need, does not even need to be on it's own circuit.
