Residential counter space

I have a 60" counter space on a built in wall buffet.

Am I correct in saying that a minimum of 2 receptacles is required for this?

You said it was residential, but did not say if it was a kitchen. If it is, the answer is yes. One receptacle not more than 2 feet from the left edge, and a second not more than 2 feet from the right edge, will be the minimum requirement.

210.52(C) says "kitchens, pantries, breakfast rooms, dining rooms, and similar areas", so same placement rules apply as does in the kitchen.

New home

Friends of mine recently moved into their newly built home. Windows too low to allow proper spacing of kitchen countertop receptacles. Receps placed at end of windows. 4' rule completely ignored. Go figure.
