Years ago I wired up a large house where gadget crazy owner had a extra long 4 car garage built. He had a long Cadillac that he wanted to have three feet in front & back of it to be able to walk around. We asked him several times if it would be okay to install at least a few duplex receptacles 42 to 48" off the floor in case he got a work bench but he only wanted receptacles mounted 18" off the floor at 6' intervals. Garage was was also extra wide. Of course after he moved in he purchased two long work benches. One for his tools and one for the wife to play with plants. Had to go back and install six duplex receptacles 42" off floor. One extra smart thing he had built with the garage was a hot cold mixing valve along with two floor drains so he could wash off snow on the four cars he had. The drains were not allowed to drain into regular drain line but went to a sump pump that pumped water to gravel filled area behind garage. Installed a 100 amp sub panel in the garage because he thought a welder might have to be used someday and the second floor above garage had duplex receptacles every 6' for a bunch of pin ball machines.
