Residential License in illinois

Hi.
I am wondering where to go to obtain a license to do Residential Electric work in illinois.Does anyone know?

Illinois does not have state-level licensing for electricians. You should check with the authorities in every city in which you plan on doing electrical work.

Mk You can get a license in chicago, it does not use the Nec, it uses the chicago municipal electrical code, a small book compare to the NEC, I hold it a General Electrician License, we don't call it master here. you can go to for information here cityofchicago.org Good luck.. Onitram
