I am having a 3 ton heat pump replaced and was going to upsize the backup strips from 10kw to 15kw. The 10kw can't seem to keep up when the temps get down in the teens. Using Mike Holts load calculation form shows that the service to our house is already undersized. One question I have about the form. My outside unit shows the fan at 1 fla and the inside fan at 2.4 fla. I don't understand the large default numbers of 1600va in the fan/blower column. What am I missing?

I am not sure either but that really isn't going to make much of a difference. I would use the nameplate va.
The main reason I was wondering is I have 1 3ton unit and 2 2ton units. All together that equals 3360va more than my calculations. Thanks for the reply. Discrepancies drive me nuts.
