My state offers a residential and master residential license. I only do residential work and I am considering taking the Prometric Residential Masters exam. I took the Prometric Residential test about three years ago and passed. Was just wondering if anyone has taken the masters test and had any helpful hints and also was it that much different/difficult than just the residential test? What type of calculation questions etc. Also, are there exam prep materials that can be purchased for just residential?

What state are you in? In Maine the Master's test is that only, we do have a Limited Lic. that I believe mainly involves residential work your state lic. board website may have a breakdown of what will be on the test and at what percentage. If your looking for exam prep I would say Mike Holt is the way I went, nice part was not just the books but I made good use of the online quizzes. I just kept drillling setting different time lenghts getting myself use to taking a timed test. Here the Masters test is three hours 100 questions, so you have 1.8 minutes per question.

I can't tell you what the test would have because I have not taken it but I would say your going to be looking at Grounding and Bonding, probably a good deal of service and feeder load calculations. But, in my opinion knowing how to get to what you need to in the code is important you need to be quick. Sorry I did not have a direct answer to your whole question but good luck.

Thanks for the reply - I was mainly looking for study materials that were just residential since that is what the test is over. I didn't see any Mike Holt study materials that were just for residential. I didn't know if anyone had taken the Prometric Residential Masters exam since I believe it is given in several different states.
