Residential Pricing per sf or opening

I have done petroleum for a few years with little residential, but have been dealving into resi much more. Most of what I have done has been t&m however I'm getting involved in lager jobs.

Im looking for some help as to pricing residential. Is it better per opening or square foot.

Does anyone have any forms they use or spreadsheets?

Price per opening. Every contractor in my town does sq ft pricing and I think it's completely asinine.

Have you ever done assembly take-off's?

I think there are spreadsheets available online (for a cost) for residential take-offs.

I have one that I made for myself many years ago, but it's all steel boxes and soldered joints you can look at it to get an idea if you like.
