In taking my Admin test for residential I am coming across a question that states " Do not include house load or laundry load in this calculation". The items they give are Sq ft, single or multi dwelling, AC, Garbage Dis, Range, Etc. Do I include in my calculation the sq ft rule of 3 VA when it says do not include laundry or house load? I have taken this test 3 times and its getting very discourageing.

Thank You

Re: Residential Question

Most State Tests I have taken are a joke. I would take your test right up to the front and ask the test giver What they want.

You might try one of those Test prep courses. I took one here and the teacher warned us of stupid questons and the stupid (but correct) anwser. I did very well on all my state tests I took a prep for.

Re: Residential Question

Yes. Include the 3va per sq ft per 220.11. I do'nt think you would ever be asked to not include this.

When your asked to omit the laundry, they are probably refering to the laundromat in a multi-family dwelling.

When asked to omit HOUSE LOADS, they are refering to things like parking lot lights, hallway lights, pool equiptment, rec room, etc.

Finally, go over the residential examples in annex D chapter 9, and you will probably ace the next one.

Re: Residential Question

I am not sure of the format of your test, but I teach a test prep class in NY. I teach the guys to focus more on the other questions and save the calculations for last. There are 100 question on the test all worth 1 point. If you spend too much time on the calculations (still worth only 1 point), then you may miss many other questions, taking away from your total score.
BTW: my last two classes, I had 100% pass the exams :D

Re: Residential Question

Thank you for all theadvice. I am going to try again next weekend and take the test. Thge problem with this test is it is only 4 questions and 2 hours. I have already passed the other 2 sections. I hope I pass my residential side of the business is so close to starting.

Thank Again
