Can you use tape over SEU cable. Have an area about 3' long that the neutral is showing. The rest of the cable looks great. Is this legal?

Are you installing it or is it an existing fix? If it's a new installation it wouldn't pass being taped. The Integrity of the wire has been compromised. Either way I would fix it right.

Welcome to the forum.
I don't panic about SE cable sheaths. The bare exposed is no more dangerous than exposed conduit or meter bases.

It depends on why you're asking. If it's looks, replace it. If it's fear of shock, skip it. If it's a home inspector, well . . .

If it's outdoors I'd replace it. Not that anything outside is waterproof but I'd rather keep as much out as possible. If indoors I'd tape it.
