Hi,

I'm looking to have someone check me out on my calculations for residential service that I've been asked to size.

The square footage of the house's livable space totals 3,234 sq' x3 VA=9,702
The appliances I have calculated are:

2 dishwashers 3,000va
1 refrigerator 1,500va
1 freezer 1,500va
3 counter top circuits 4,500va
1 washing machine 1,500va
1 dryer 5,000va
1 microwave circuit 1,500va
5 bathroom circuits 7,500va
1 gas stove w/ 30 amp receptacle 5,000va
2 ac compressors 7,000va
2 air handlers 3,000va
1 9kw steam generator 9,000va
1 gas furnace 500va

for a total of 60,202va
I then deduct 3,000va
with a remainder of 57,202
57,202 x.35 =20,020va
20,020 + 3,000= 23,020va / 240= 85 amps

Is this right? The dwelling unit can have all of this and only require 100 amps for the service?

Also any Mike Holt products that could help me along this process would be great!

Off hand it looks like you are mixing the standard demand factors into the optional calculation method. If in fact you are using optional, see the demand factors in 220.82

Been a while since I did one of these exactly, however aren't refrigerators allowed on the small appliance Branch circuits? Also why would a gas stove need a 30 amp receptacle?

There are some "ranges" that are gas & electric. Gas for the range top cooking with a electric oven .
OR even gas cook-top burners with an electric grill. :jawdrop:
