Residential service disconnect location

I watched a video (not MH) that talked about the 2023 requirements for the location of the disconnect for a residence.
It said the “new” code requires the disconnect means to be “on the structure, order within sight and not more than 50 feet away”. It described that currently there isn’t a footage or line of sight requirement.

I’m still operating off the 2020 code. I thought (or assumed) that code required the disconnect to be “on” the structure?

We commonly deal with a power company that places the meter (service) away from the structure. We then run a feeder to the structure terminating in a 200 amp disconnect.

If what this video described is correct we wouldn’t necessarily have to install the 200 amp disco and could just LB into the structure with our feeder?

Thanks for any guidance!

See 2020 NEC Art. 550.32 (A) Mobile homes and manufactured homes are considered to meet the requirements of a dwelling unit. It states that mobile home service equipment can not be installed in or on the mobile home. The provisions are to be within sight and not more than 30' from the exterior wall. The 2023 section has the 30' rule removed and just leaves "within sight". This is defined in the NEC as within sight of or 50'. It also states that the service disconnect can also serve as the emergency disconnect. (230.85) (B) Manufactured home service equipment CAN be installed in or on the structure provided the conditions mentioned are complied with.

If you are using the 2023 code, 225.41(A)(1) applies and would permit your installation. With the type of installation you are talking about, Article 230 stops at the disconnect and then Article 225 takes over.
