I am relatively new to residential work and I have a question.
I would like to install a Service Rated Transfer switch on the exterior of a home adjacent to the meter pan. Is it permissible to nipple out the side of the meter pan to the transfer switch, then back through the nipple (correctly sized) through the pan again through the existing rear nipple to the load center?
Save a lot of work installing new conduits....

Sounds like you will be using the transfer switch as the service disconnect because you went out of your way to mention that it was service rated. IF you did this remember it would now be a feeder coming out of the transfer switch and what was your main panel is now a "sub panel". You would thus need to separate the neutrals and grounds, remove the MBJ, and move the grounding electrode system to the transfer switch. Is it manual or automatic? If automatic you may have load calc issues depending on the calcs and the size of the generator and how how thorough the AHJ is.
