Residential Transfer Switch under meter socket

Yeah, the utilities are selling and installing them, that cuts us out of the loop.

Same here. Just like the whole home surge suppressors. Poco wouldn't allow us messing with the meters and of course they were missing out on some $$$$$. Heaven forbid we cant have that.

We rent ours out to customers rather than sell them.

That can be more profitable than selling them, include the rent on their monthly energy bill and many don't even think about it, send them a separate bill for rent and a lot of them will eventually decide they no longer need it --- until the big storm comes along and they are without power for days, then you can not re-install one fast enough.

I heard about this transfer switch at a code class today.
It connects under the meter socket

Has anyone seen or installed one before?

The one I'm familiar with is Generlink. Your photo looks like a different brand that I have not seen. I'm curious about the connection method-is that a cord or some kind of liquid-tite conduit? If it is a cord I dont think it is compliant as it is not a cord and plug as the Generlink is.
Believe it or not, the Generlink has been around for 15 or 20 years. Back then they were so new that we could not get or POCO on board with the concept. I think Generlink figured out that the only way to sell these was through POCOs, but I think that the number of POCOs that are willing to mess with these are few and far between.
