Greetings fellow engineers and electricians,
My question is in regards to the 6/12 rule for residential apartment units. Is there a code section in the NEC that allows you to use the island receptacle in place of a wall receptacle for the 6/12 rule if the island receptacle is close enough to the opposite wall? (See attached for described scenario). It seems silly to have to place another receptacle directly across from the island receptacle, especially when it's only 4' away from the wall.

I agree with the above, but I would look for options if you're trying to avoid a receptacle below the window.

For example, to the right of that window (up in the drawing), next to the cabinet, a few inches of wall appears.
