Return air cord and rec.

I have been asked to install a piece of equipment to the supply air ductwork above a return air plenum ceiling. The equipment is equipped with a 6? cord to be plugged into a 125 volt receptacle above the ceiling. Considering this is a return air plenum is this a legal installation? I have no idea if the cord is rated to be installed in the RA ceiling.

No cord and plugs ar? allowed to install inside or above droop ceiling.400.8 5 make it a violation!!

If this is a suspended ceiling then art 400.8 would prohibit it.

An outlet is permitted but ,you can't plug in nothing on it!!!!!
