Reversed Polarity

I just started at a colmpany and some of the circuits show reversed polarity when tested , they appear to be in series , how can one show this and none of the others on the circuit? also can a G.F.C.I. work without a ground but a A.F.C.I. can't ? Thanks

It is possible that one device is wired wrong.? I did not know an AFCI needed a ground.

Check the connections at all the outlets, not just the one that shows reverse polarity.

AFCIs and GFCIs should both operate without an EGC.
