Well, what I have here is a reversing contactor, compact design for frieght elevator.
There is a up and down with a push button emer. stop.
My problem is when I engage the contactors manually, pushing in up or down contactor, the jam relay included, works fine. But,using the push button,up or down,it basically chatters like a tommy gun.As I said before engaging it manually operates fine, push in the contactors and the memory holds in place, just with the push buttons
it chatters, along with the jam relay.
What would cause this,a bad coil on the reversing contactor?Or the jam relay?Any comments or opinions would be apperciated.

Re: reversing contactors

Is this a new installation? It sounds like you have the electrical interlock contacts reversed.

Re: reversing contactors

Well,I bypassed the jam overload relay, and using the pushbuttons, seems to be working properly.

Re: reversing contactors

Well the motor voltage is 480,control is 120.My other concern is that the reversing contactor is a compact desigh old siemens allis c211R*3 contactor, and i'm trying to find an equivalent replacement.
I spoke with a tech,he said he's UNABLE to find a replacement with the demensions of the old contactor.WIDTH=4.92"HEIGHT=4.43"LENGHT=3.54".
