Inspector requires IC AT for recessed cans in this 1920s remodel
so my plan in bid was to have the drywaller‘s cut me some hatches after I’ve done layout for Recessed Cans
I’m at the supply house and there are compliant
retrofit cans
it would be so much better if I could just carefully holesaw remodel Cans
I always found the problem to be that the clips on the remodel cans don’t hold against the plaster ceiling so well because it’s kind of variable thickness on both sides of the sandwich
Anybody have any success with using a modern Nora remodel can in a plaster ceiling ??
One interesting method might be to cut a 6 inch hole for the 2 inch can through the plaster only
then come back with the smaller 2 inch hole saw for the lath
then put a drywall doughnut on the lathe
but then you still have the wooden lath on the top
at least the lower trim ring would have a smooth surface to seat
