What is the abbreviation for RGS that is Aluminum? Lol

Is RGS more durable than aluminum? I'm asking because I might be installing floor sleeves and thinking aluminum be more prone ot damage than RGS,

The Code name for RGS is Rigid Metal Conduit Art 344. It can be constructed of steel, aluminum, brass, stainless (see 344.100)

Both are types of RMC so it should be call either Steel RMC or Aluminum RMC. Aluminum is fine for sleeves unless there is the possibility of impact with a piece of motorized equipment. Steel is need if embedded in concrete.

It does not show up in the 2023 using a search on LiNK®
Thanks Don. I didn't think so. The term RGS has been around forever but it would be nice if people writing specifications used the proper term steel RMC. Or for aluminum, aluminum RMC.

I see this all the time. If I have to communicate on the issue, I'll simply use the correct terminology, and when someone says, "Don't you mean RGS?" I say "No."
