I was checking the chart for Rigid metal conduit fill, and I see that for a 1-1/2" pipe I can put in 4 # 2 THHN wires. The LB says on the inside to use " max size conductors 3 # 2 AWG". So the question is do you go by the pipe chart or by the LB markings??

Re: Ridgid Metal Conduit - LB

Go up one size in LB and use reducing bushings.

You have to satisfy both. I like Al's idea, but I think (not sure) they also make 1-1/2" LB's that are larger that the standard size LB.

Steve,

That's an excellent point.

As a case in point, T&B's basic Red Dot LB has the catalog designation ALB.

There are, in the T&B Red Dot line, also more robust versions of the same trade size (1?") LB with the catalog designations: </font>

Re: Ridgid Metal Conduit - LB

I noticed that the same size LB for EMT will accept more wires than one for Rigid. Any one know why? The LB are the same exact size other than one has threads and one does not.
