Hey guys,

Just a general question... I encountered an Electrician who was saying Rigid Metallic Conduit was REQUIRED to go through an exterior brick wall...
Has anyone else ever heard this??

My immediate reaction was no, but the more I thought about it, the more it started to make sense.
Is this a legitimate requirement for going through brick?

Thanks,

- J

EMT and some cable types can be run directly through brick. Sometimes, RGS is used as a sleeve.

You can run NM and MC cable through the brick so RMC certainly wouldn't be required.

It may be a spec requirement. However, I prefer rmc to go thru a brick or block wall, with emt the fitting is larger than the conduit od. I would core drill the hole so there was no blow out.
