I have a number of robots, and the have safety cages around where the part is placed on the conveyor or reject part, and some have stack warning lights and some do not. My question is, do all of the safety cages need warning lights??
and where would I find the requirements?? This is an industrial manufacturing
company.

Thank You, any and all information.

You probably need to go to OSHA or some industrial guide for this. The NEC will only tell you how to safely install the lights, not where they are required.

Warning lights are a good idea from a productivity standpoint, because it lets workers and technicians know immediately where a problem lies. But the Safety Function of the machine / robot cell does not require them, only the guarding / lockout / reset issues are addressed. But keep in mind, even the safety regulations are a MINIMUM standard, not a design guide. Stack Lights are a "best practice".

For robots, the generally accepted safety standard is put out by the RAI (Robot Industry Association)

If not required, think about the situation before just putting warning lights somewhere. They are often overused to the point that they get ignored. Or the one new important warning light in the middle of a field of them that are always there will be ignored because warning lights have been tuned out for the sake of sanity.
