I am working on a high rise building and there is a walkway around the perimeter of the building that is used by pedestrians. The walkway is constructed like a tunnel to protect pedestrians from the construction.I need to install some temporary lighting in the tunnel. The project manager does not want to use festoon lighting so we are going to install some jelly jar lights.

My question is this. Can I use romex to wire these lights together?

You might get away with it and I certainly would use NM if it was in the construction area but out exposed to the public no way.

I agree with Bob on this. NM is never permited in wet. Perhaps some UF romex but still be concerned about public messing with it and getting hurt. Legal and smart are not the same.
Is this a short run that perhaps could be ran in pvc ?
