Romex in-wall splice kit?

Is there a kit (or approved method) to connect a stub of romex feeding from i don't know where or am I required to put a box there? I told the HO that it would require a box and they did not like it at all. But the feed comes from a beam cutout and then into an area with wood walls, which I would not want to disturb.
I thought I would ask about soldering or I have seen in the past some sort of molex like thing and wasn't sure about it.
 
I know that Tyco makes what you are lloking for. They have either a straight splice or a "tee." You can bury it in the wall, but I still don't think I would do it. Google TYCO romex splice.
 
Take a look at 334.40(B).
The first sentence permits the device to be buried in the wall for existing installations - such as splicing a broken conductor.
These can be found at QAAV in the UL White Book, page186 of the 2006 version.
Tyco makes this product, and it is very similar if not the same product that we see in modular type home installations.

" Switch, outlet, and tap devices of insulating material shall be permitted to be used without boxes in exposed cable wiring and for rewiring in existing buildings where the cable is concealed and fished."

We have had this discussion before about this product and I thought the overall feeling was that it could be fished but had to be accessible. I will look for the thread.
