Romex nm cable in NYC?

I keep hearing/reading opppaing information.
Is nm (Romex) cable allowed in residential properties?

I am guessing that you would not be asking the question unless you were planning to use it at your own home. Thank you for your work as a teacher, one of the most important jobs any person can undertake. But I must tell you that our forum rules do not allow us to provide any assistance to a person who is not employed in our industry, and who intends to perform their own electrical installation work.
