Can I use romex wire under my deck to wire my outside outlets? Also, can I run romex wire under my siding? (Between the siding and the wood the siding is attached to).

Re: Romex wire

to answer the question the first question is no it have to be UF cable because it is a outdoor location and it have to be sunlight proof type and the second question about running romax under siding well it can be done but i wont recomend at all i am not sure about your area and i dont know where you are located because the local codes will be diffrent than the national or state code i will just check with inspecter if any doubt about doing it best way to get a electrican who they know the area very well and they can steer you right and by the way the outdoor plugin cover are getting very strict now ( my area requird to use " in use cover " insead of flat cover but i am sure other members here can ring it here too i am sure they will tell you the same answer what i say about it above items

Re: Romex wire

My above ground pool is wired in this manner. In the house is romex to a junction box. The junction box feeds plastic conduit which is mounted under the deck. At the end of the conduit is an outdoor timer which feeds the outlet. All the outside wires are individual wires in conduit. The entire cirsuit is a GFCI circuit. This was what the inspector wanted.
