Roof Top junction box connections for AC

Hi All,

We've been using a lot of AC modules. I am wondering what the best (or industry standard) method is for wiring the roof mounted junction box.

Ive been using plain old wire nuts but you hear people say wire nuts are not great for longevity.

Any thoughts or suggestions here? Split bolts and tape like all the DC runs perhaps? CBG's? Or maybe wire nuts are completely OK?

thanks

One of the companies I worked with early on used Buchanan splices, and that's what I still mostly use. Some inspectors do not think they are okay for outdoor locations but I trust them far more than outdoor wire nuts with the slippery goop.

We switched exclusively to sola-decks with terminal blocks installed on the din rail for both AC and DC terminations. Found too many bad wirenut connections. Pay more now vs later.

I do a lot of flat roofs, and tile roofs. Soladecks don't work on those either.

A company we did a lot of subcontracting for always gave us these which also have din rail mounted terminals. But I could never justify the expense if the AHJ or customer wasn't requiring it.
