Was asked to look over a data com & check for code compliance. I have rarely used Chapter 8 & can’t make sense of it.

Their indoor components are grounded by cord & plug.

Rooftop antenna & components are bonded to a lightning loop. I think chapter 8 says not to bond to lightning loop but the antenna is highest thing on the roof. Seems we should bond to lightning loop for that reason. Book appears to want either a bond to any intersystem terminal or straight to earth with a bond to main electrical earth ground If no intersystem terminal.

Anyone done much of this lately?

Art. 810 is the NEC article that would cover this, it requires a separate grounding conductor either to the service ground or a driven ground rod that is bonded to the service ground. The NEC mentions nothing about a lightning protection system, though that must be bonded to the service ground as well.

I do agree that the mast should be bonded to the LP system. NFPA 780 covers lightning protection systems, your answer is probably in there.
