I just priced various types of rooftop support systems.Basically I need 75 trapezes,with erico and cooper these workout between $12000 and $15000,whereas with with PT wood I can build these for less than $5000.Obviously this is the way to go,even though it dosen't look as professional,is this the way to go,or am I going to look cheap?BTW I am supporting 3x4 runs of 4 inch conduit with 4x4 500kcm in each.

how far apart you gonna have these? with 12 4" conduits, with wire, assuming
copper, it's gonna weigh an awful lot.. i'd be looking at every 5 or 6 feet,
assuming emt. rigid, i think i'd be looking at 4', depending on the type of
rooftop it's sitting on, just to spread out the weight. it'll be over 100 lbs a
foot, if in emt. if it's a tilt up with a typical plywood roof:roll:...... ridgid will be approaching 200 lbs a foot.:roll::roll:

that much pipe and wire is a bunch of money.... should be able to go for the
high priced spread.... i'd be partial to the cooper stuff, cause it gets leed
credits, if that counts on your project.
 
Maybe I am missing something, but the last time I used roof supports they were $15.00 each for a 1' support. How much are you paying for each support?
 
the caddy\erico pyramid 300 series are about $130 each for the base without the kindorf needed for the trapeze.I need to raise the conduit about 14",so i'm thinking 6x6 pressure treated wood with 16" bases and 40" laid perpendicular on top,with kindorf on top again to make up my height.|----|

is this just to clear a physical obstruction, or is this elevation needed because
of derating issues with a conduit ran horizontally across a roof?

here is another idea that might look intentional. 4x4 blocks to support the downward weight with a strut L bracket lagged to the block and the vertical strut, another L bracket and the horizontal support strut. I would make sure that the roofer puts down walking pads at each support. These could be easily assembled in the shop. By the way, if you have never used the DeWalt carbide metal cutting saw this is a perfect opportunity!

I would think that there would be 'details' on the prints for the type of supports needed

in this installation, including what kind ( or equal ) how many, and where to locate them.
 
I would go through the membrane and bolt to the deck, if its metal, has to be on a truss, each support would get a pitch pan.
One setup every 8 or 10' would be plenty.

I don't think the foam caddy type would be a good idea.
