It's not that easy to explain in words but, there are some good illustrations in some of the links on this page

approx. three feet from the end of the rope, split the strands just enough to thread the end through. Pull it through approx two feet and repeat 4 or 5 times in 5-6 inch increments. Tape the extra back to itself and you can pull a dump truck with it.

Never really saw that method. You say it works well?

I have woven the end of the rope in between the strands every couple of inches for about 14-18 inches and as preasure is put on the loopthe rope tightens on itself has worked great

the lineman and cable man handbook explains how to put a eye splice in

every rope i own and have in my truck has a eye splice. i really hate seeing a rope without one.

ive learned how to do these eye splices when i was a boy scout and still use that and a few other knots such as the bowline for putting loops in those poly lines we blow in pipe
