Re: Rosette

My little electrical dictionary says: Rosette. A small two piece insulator in which connection is made between wiring and drop cords attached to the wiring. Rosettes are made of porcelain in two parts called the base and cap. Although rosettes may be obtained either in fused or un-fused , the fused type is seldom used. I have never seen one but I'll take their word for it. Sounds like something grand dad would have used.

Re: Rosette

I believe it is a circular ornate pattern carved or molded into wood or plaster. You might see them at corners of crown molding in old structures with plaster wall. It also applies to patterns in fireplace trim.

When I read this I finally knew what that thing was called that I've had on a shelf in my garage for several years! I don't remember where I got it. When people ask about it I would tell them it's "an old electrical thing used for hanging lights". Thanks for starting this thread!
