we are bidding a project with a huge 12'deep holding pond.the service is on one side and the load is on the other side.a direct route below the pond is about 500' versus around the perimiter
at about a 1000'.I need to get a 55a 208v 3ph pump fed from the service with 1-1/2"c-3#1 &1#8 gnd.
can this be pvc if i am say 48" below the pond floor.
thanx for any input

What a bummer. Too bad the pump isn't on the service side!

I don't read anytihng in the NEC that specifically restricts RNC for your described installation. Ensure your conductor insulation is listed for wet location and you should be fine. :)

REcommend using XHHW XLP-2 insulation, copper is best, instead of THHW. I have seen THHW go bad in a conduit that has a lot of water in it.

I guess life isnt always fair and easy. Use a direct burial cable which you should go one size up for any further developement of power . After using that cable have it covered in concrete to ensure its not damaged before the pond is completed.
