According to the Illustrated Dimensions drawing, dimension D, and column D in the chart, it is taper threaded.
 
What’s the purpose of the insulated throat ? Same as bushing ? Prevent conductor damage ?
Yes. They're great when they work but we stopped using them after a job or two because they would get damaged during the wire pulls and you would then need to install a bushing anyway.

Wait I thought you said if it’s insulated throat then there’s no bushing needed.

Also, often the spec calls for them so how could you NOT use them? They are part of the connector.
 
What so typically you wouldn’t need a bushing using insulated throats connectors and the purpose of them is the same as a bushing but you use a bushing anyway? That makes no sense .
