run mc cable through finished ceilings and walls

Hello,

Can someone please tell me if it okay to run mc cable through a finished plaster ceiling in a room into a second floor wall? Also, is it okay to run mc cable through a finished sheetrock wall from one room to another. The customer has a 100-year old store and would like to save money by running mc cable in the back storage rooms, and bathrooms.

Yes and yes if MC is allowed in the construction type. As for going through walls your penetrations need to be protected if they are fire walls, looks like you are good to go.

What do you mean by protection? Isn't MC cable listed for firewall penetration?

Cable may be fine, but you still need to seal around it. Not protection for the cable but "protection" for the firewall penetration?
