I'm in escrow in 325 acres divided into 9 lots and I'm trying to get a handle on the cost to run power to theses lots. First, it's a bit of ways, my map says 2 miles from where I think primary is available to the last lot, 1,200 yards to get most of the lots. Second the power company is not helpful. They sent me a form saying one thing if it's under 400 amps and another if it's over 400 amps assuming a normal run from street to house. That got me thinking, 9 lots, 9 primary homes, plus guest houses, that's 200 amps per lot - at least - that's 1,800 amps total. That's a bit over 400 amps so the information from the power company on trenching details probably isn't right. I'm assuming instead of 3 cables in 1 conduit, there will be 3 separate conduit (single phase). The general engineering contractor said about $20 a foot to do the trenching - it all has to be underground. But, that was assuming normal power run to a house or two. I'm guessing that will go up a little, but the trench won't change much, just the conduit will change. But ... how much will the power company want to pull that kind of cable. How big is the cable??

Any information would be appreciated.

We actually can't help you here, it would be a violation of our forum rules, so I am closing this thread. That said, this is something that needs the services of a competent licensed electrical contractor experienced in your area and familiar with local code requirements and how to work with the utility.
