Running communication wires and conduit

Is it a requirement to run communication wires Cat6 in conduit when you're running it down the wall from the ceiling to the outlet

Per some design spec, possibly.

Is common to run raceway inside walls to within accessible ceilings simply to allow easier change someday when some other cable type may be the new standard or maybe even simply to make it easier to pull more cables to the particular outlet location for more items that need a cable to them.

With residential insulation turning to spray-in foam, pipe would be beneficial-- hard to fish a new outlet (of any type) through foam!

The walls are already up and the ceilings in the false ceilings in I need to put a couple Outlets and then the communication lines down the wall the outlets will be fed through the wall with Greenfield now can I feed the Cat6 cable down the wall without pipe would that be c o d e compliant yes the walls already up in a false ceiling in the office building actually industrial office building thank you for your information I appreciate any information I receive thank you and I hope you have a nice weekend

Just make sure the greenfield goes all the way to the outlet in case you need a future cable.

I would also put a pull string in the greenfield for future expansion.

I cannot recommend this enough, it makes the future easier.

In South America, I often see both combined in smurf tube. Whether that is code or not here, is a different matter.

Isn't it harder to pull the cable in FMC then in EMT?

Usually you can hold the FMC taught on the feed side and have someone down below doing the same thing, you can push it through.

I haven’t done much communication wire but it seems odd that residential area installations would not allow conductors without a sleeve such as THHN to be ran inside walls as an allowable wiring method but they would allow it for communication wire? Perhaps this is because of the voltage and or current rating differences?
