For those who have experience doing this do you always find it easier/quicker that running overhead?
On the estimating side do you guys bid this way when you KNOW you can install in deck or keep that in your pocket?

As long as the job specs don't prohibit it, we would bit it using PVC below the slab. Make sure you read all of the words in the specs, also, if this is a LEADS you may not be permitted to run PVC as it can't be recycled....at least that was the case on the last one I did about 10 years ago. We took a hit on that one as the estimators missed that.

Usually spec always reads you can't use PVC within footprint of building. That seems like a fairly easy think for estimator to miss and interpret.

That was the first time we ever saw such a spec around here for raceways in or below the floor slab.

If specs allow PVC in the slab, the $$$ savings are everywhere. Wire savings, time savings, and labor and material savings. In addition, I always ran a few spares and turned them up walls and chases in the buildings. You can thank me later for that one! ;)

Not trying to hijack the thread but, would that apply to PEX or CPVC water lines too?
